Parveen Babi
In may ways she was the Francis Farmer or Jean Seberg of Hindi Cinema, Parveen was billed as the New Age Heroine, one who smoked, wore Hippie clothes, and partied with the boys, in an age when that was taboo for an actress in India. She was a small town girl who against all odds broke into the bigtime of Bollywood. Ironically enough Parveen became famous for her uninhibited Modern behavior on and off screen, yet it was the unforgiving glare of the spotlight that eventually broke her fragile spirit. She was scrutinized and cracked under the pressure of it all. She trail blazed and paid a heavy price for it.
I still have to update her passing on the profile page I made for Parveen Babi, to which I've been stalling. I thinking of some type of tribute supplement, but don't know what yet.
The band width usage for my site has skyrocketed since the news of Parveen's passing hit the web. My site gets fairly high bandwidth use for a personal site because there are so many jpegs on it. (I have over 4000 pics on the site.) (right now I get about 3500 unique computers hitting bollywood501 a day) I usually have a 1.25 gig transfer rate a day. The past 3 days its been like 3 gigs a day o-: All of the extra traffic has been hits to my Parveen Babi pages. I did a google and yahoo search for "parveen babi" and my site is the number one search result on Google, and number five on Yahoo Search for her name. Shit, Ohh noooo!!! Too Many Hits!!! I'm gonna run out of bandwidth before the month ends. Oh well, I shouldn't complain... Poor Parveen, go use up some more of my bandwidth and check out the profile I made on her.
