Prithviraj Kapoor [1906 - 1972], the cinematic patriarch to the legendary Kapoor clan of Hindi cinema. His career spanned from the silent film era of Hindi cinema, to Shakespearean and Indian theater, to Bollywood films, working as a thespean till the time of his death. He is one of the most cherished actors of Indian film history.

He launched his three sons, Shammi, Raj, and Shashi, into Hindi film.
