Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia, two of the biggest stars of 1970s Bollywood cinema had their start in "Bobby". It was Rishi's second film and the 14 year old Dimple's first. The film caused a sensation within the new rising middle class youth culture of India. The story was one of rebellious teen love, that goes against society, religion, and class. "Bobby" also caused a mini revolution in the areas of fashion and pop-culture lifestyle. Dimple's clothes and look from the film became fashion trends and Rishi's motor scooter he rode in the film became the hip accessory for all aspiring middle class men.
